Steam Game: Armoured Commander II

Source Link

In Armoured Commander II, you take on the role of a tank commander in World War II. Featuring a roguelike focus on turn-based and procedurally-generated strategic gameplay, you must lead your tank crew through a multi-week campaign where your ultimate goal is simply to survive.

About This Game

In Armoured Commander II, you play the role of a tank commander in World War II, leading your crew through a campaign in one of the major conflicts of the war. ArmCom2 features multiple campaigns set between 1939 and 1945, and hundreds of vehicles, guns, and infantry unit types. The terrain map for each combat day and the types of enemies you encounter are procedurally generated, which means that each playthrough of a campaign will bring new and unexpected challenges. Your commander and crew gain experience and can improve their stats and gain skills over time, but they are also vulnerable to injury and may be seriously wounded or killed during the course of a campaign.

Visual Style and Gameplay

The visual style of the game follows the roguelike approach of using a character set rather than bitmap graphics. All in-game displays are rendered using a modified and expanded Petscii character set, as used in the Commodore 64. This keeps the focus on the gameplay rather than on graphic effects. Sound effects are also generated using samples from the C64’s SID sound chip.

The gameplay is turn-based, so you can pause and consider your options at any point in the game. You can also save and continue your game at any point, and can have one saved game per campaign type. You can choose to take on the role of your Commander, meaning that if your Commander is killed in the game your campaign ends (Permadeath), or you can continue playing through an entire campaign, replacing your tank and crew as needed.

Current State of the Game

Armoured Commander II was previously released for free, but after version 3 new updates to game the will only be available through Steam. While the source code of the core game script will continue to be freely available, new content such as new campaigns and units will only be added to the Steam release. While there are already ten different campaigns and over one hundred unit types, my plan is to continue to expand the game after its initial release, adding new campaigns, nations, and so on. All future additions to the game will be free to anyone who has purchased the game.

Roadmap for the Future

After the initial Steam release, I plan on adding the following campaigns, including appropriate historical unit types, and new game mechanics for them where appropriate:

  • North Africa: British, German, American, Italian
  • Europe Eastern Front: German, Soviet
  • Italy: American, British, Canadian, German
  • Western Europe 1944-1945: German, British

If possible, I’d also like to expand the range of campaigns beyond this, to include the Pacific and South-east Asian theatres, and perhaps one day, earlier time periods like the Spanish Civil War, and later ones such as the Korean War.

Steam Game: Banners of Ruin

Source Link

Assemble your party. Answer the call. Win the war. Build a deck and fight a series of turn-based combats with up to 6 party characters through the city of Dawn’s Point. Each character can unlock a set of unique cards and abilities that can augment your deck in powerful, exciting ways.

About This Game

The Blackfoots have been dealt a mighty blow by the fearsome House Ender – you must infiltrate their defences and cut out the rot.

Build your deck and fight your way through the city of Dawn’s Point with card based combat and up to 6 members in your party. Characters loyal to your cause have a set of unique cards and abilities that may augment your deck in powerful, exciting ways. Defeat each of the elite opponents in your path to the city’s Guard Captain and cripple the Enders at their core. You and your brethren may fall at this attempt, but there will always be others to carry the torch. House Blackfoot will remember, and they will never relent. Encounter a series of scenarios as you travel through the city which may help you, but at the expense of some moral ground.

  • Build your deck by looting, buying and unlocking a myriad of cards.
  • Beavers and Bears? Or Wolves and Weasels? Build a party of up to 6 throughout your run to battle your foes.
  • 6 Races to explore with unique racial card pools and passives to choose from.
  • Ding! Level up your characters to unlock talent cards and powerful passives that can drastically impact your strategy.
  • Loot! Collect weapons and armour to bolster your ranks with interesting effects and abilities.
  • Which way? Navigate the streets in a dynamic card driven campaign.
  • Decisions. Reveal and engage in varying encounters on your journey which can have positive and negative outcomes.
  • Fight an increasingly challenging array of enemies with exciting AI behaviours.
  • Another failed attempt? Earn tokens after every run to unlock new cards and passives into the game to help you achieve victory.

We think Banners of Ruin is in a really enjoyable place right now. There’s plenty to expand upon, balance and polish – a lot of the artwork needs a rendering pass (the game requires a huge amount!) – but we think there’s plenty of depth to explore. As long-standing fans of deckbuilders like Dominion, we think the game offers a deeper, more unique flavour of deckbuilding while introducing new mechanics like positions, characters, equipment and races!

The game is designed to be re-played, with at least 4-6 hours of content, a fun core gameplay loop and an unlock system that increases the pool of cards you want to see over the course of successive runs. We want you to know that content is our biggest priority going forward, but also that it’s all being created by a tiny core team of two, with an extremely talented composer.

There’s so many exciting things we want to do with Banners of Ruin, and we know it might not come as quickly as you’d like, but nevertheless we hope you’ll choose to support us and most importantly – love the game! We’ve got plenty of ideas in mind and we’d like nothing more than a vibrant community to join us in exploring them.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re having issues, want to provide some feedback, or just tell us which animal you think is the best 🙂

(P.S. it’s Bears.)

Steam Game: Dawn of Man

Source Link

Command a settlement of ancient humans, guide them through the ages in their struggle for survival. Hunt, gather, craft tools, fight, research new techs and face the challenges the environment will throw at you.

About This Game

Take control of a settlement of the first modern humans, guide them through the ages in their struggle for survival.

Dawn of Man is a survival/city-builder from the creators of Planetbase.

The game starts in the Stone Age, and takes you up to the Iron Age, spanning more than 10,000 years of human prehistory.

You will have to get your people to survive, expand and evolve, just like our ancestors, facing the challenges that the environment will throw at you.

Hunt

Animals were a vital source of food and resources for ancient humans. Use their meat to feed your people and their skin and bones to make clothing and craft the tools you will need to stay alive.
Confront Mammoths, Woolly Rhinos, Ancient Bison, Megaloceros, Cave Lions and other species that roamed the earth at the time.

Gather

Collect a variety resources from the environment: fruit, berries, water, wood, flint, stone, ores. Use them to prepare food, to make tools and to build structures in your settlement.

Plan for harsh times

Fish is more abundant in spring, berries and fruit can be collected in summer and animals are easier to come by when it’s warm.
When winter comes, make sure to have enough non-perishable food and warm clothing in order to survive.

Expand and fortify your settlement

Build more homes and facilities for your people, in order to expand your population.
Construct fortifications and craft weapons, so you are ready for when the inevitable conflict comes.

Research Technologies

Each new discovery will make it easier for your settlement to be able to support larger populations, but will also bring new challenges: increased food demand, morale issues and more frequent raider attacks.

Build Megalithic Structures

Our ancestors were capable of incredible engineering feats: mine massive rocks from the environment, transport them using sledges and construct colossal stone structures.

Control Nature

Unlock farming technologies to grow your own vegetables, so you can feed large amounts of people. Domesticate animals to produce food, resources and provide increased muscle power.

Steam Game: Dead Age 2

Source Link

The successful indie survival RPG “Dead Age” (84% very positive) is back with a vengeance! No other game offers this mix of role-playing, rogue-like, fast-paced turn-based combat and survival all in one. Inspired by Darkest Dungeon, Fallout 1+2, This War of Mine and The Walking Dead.

About This Game

Dead Age 2 is a unique combination of survival, management, Rogue-Like events, turn-based combat, classic role-playing game with tons of quests and a story in which your decisions directly affect plot progression!

Features

  • More complex story with no knowledge of the previous storyline necessary: If you haven’t played Dead Age you will still be able to follow the diverse story of Dead Age 2 without difficulty.
  • Improved combat system (Final Fantasy X meets Darkest Dungeon): with fast-paced yet strategic battles and use of up to 24 skills
  • Faction Reputation System: Increase your standing with the three major factions to reap rewards and improve trade
  • 3D Base-Management: Assign tasks to survivors, craft items and expand you camp’s capabilities for improved crafting options
  • Compact Open World: Free exploration of the world map with 80 detailed locations to search for valuable resources
  • Decisions with Consequences: Your decisions directly affect the story in a much more drastic way. Dead Age 2 has six unique possible endings
  • Rogue-Like Elements: random 3D events with permadeath! If you die, you may purchase upgrades unlocked in previous runs for your next playthrough. Choose from 3 difficulty levels

10 years after the initial outbreak of the zombie apocalypse, the members of Jack’s camp fled to Freedom City, where a cure for the zombie plague was developed. But the news brings more suffering than relief. New factions have sprung up in the region, in constant battle for dominance. The merciless Military, the shady Smugglers and the Independents made up primarily of civilians.

When an Independents’ refugee camp was overrun by an undead horde, the few survivors struggle for food and valuable resources in an unforgiving world, always looking over their shoulder for gangs of looters and the flesh-eating dead.

While the big advantage of Dead Age’s turn-based combat system versus tactics-based games is faster progression, the mechanics have evolved.

A character can now bring up to 24 skills to the battle. Change up your tactics mid-fight to instantly gain the advantage over zombies and hostile survivors. Place front-row combatants to protect ranged-combat allies from attackers, and deploy turrets, hunting dogs and tigers, as well as an array of new weapons.

Visit the outposts of other factions to trade and take on missions and improve your standing with them. Improving relations with the region’s greater factions unlocks better equipment and plot devices. A negative reputation can lead to confrontation or even a bounty.

Your 3D base is your central hub of operations. Here, you assign crafting or building jobs to survivors, build and upgrade stations to improve defense and quality of life and unlock improved craftable items and higher yield of resources.

The new open game-world offers free exploration of the world map with over 80 detailed graphically depicted locations. Beside nature scenes, Dead Age 2 features new indoor locations like hospitals, bunkers, schools, malls and army supply stores.

Decisions you make while playing can have significant effects on the progression of the story involving the three survivor factions, romanceable characters, and bring you closer to one of the game’s six endings!

Like its predecessor, Dead Age 2 features random events on the map resulting in a variety of consequences, but this time those events are depicted fully in 3D. Survival RPGs are especially dangerous. 3 difficulty levels and permadeath may result at any time in losing an ally for good. If your main character falls victim to the apocalypse you are forced to begin a new playthrough, for which you can purchase upgrades and advantages unlocked in previous runs.

Gain enough standing with the factions and you may purchase things like upgraded faction equipment for newly-created characters, as well as unlock unique endings. This gives Dead Age 2 high replayability!

Darkly Lighthearted

UnderMine has a rich world to explore and discover with charming characters, and a plot full of intrigue. Experience the plight of the poor peasant sent into the goldmine. Steam Game: Dead Cells

Source Link

Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You’ll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle… assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.

About This Game

Roguelite? Metroidvania? Roguevania!

You grew up with the roguelikes, witnessed the rise of the roguelites and even the birth of the roguelite-lites? We’d now like to present for your consideration our RogueVania, the illegitimate child of a modern Roguelite (Rogue Legacy, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Spelunky, etc.) and an old-school MetroidVania (Castlevania: SotN and its ilk).

Features:

  • RogueVania: The progressive exploration of an interconnected world, with the replayability of a rogue-lite and the adrenaline pumping threat of permadeath.
  • 2D Souls-lite Action: Tough but fair combat, more than fifty weapons and spells with unique gameplay, and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble.
  • Nonlinear progression: Sewers, Ossuary or Remparts? Once unlocked, special permanent abilities allow you to access new paths to reach your objective. Opt for the path that suits your current build, your play style or just your mood.
  • Exploration: Secret rooms, hidden passages, charming landscapes. Take a moment to stroll the towers and breath in that fresh sea mist infused air…

Interconnected levels and progressive unlocking of access to the island provides you with a real incentive to explore your surroundings. Add in a degree of evolution for your character and permanent weapon upgrades and you can see where Dead Cells borrows from the long line of MetroidVanias that precede it.

At the end of the day though, it’s YOUR skills as a player that matter most! Roguelites are about constantly getting better, until what was an insurmountable obstacle becomes a walk in the park. Unforgiving combat wed to the absence of any kind of safety net makes for an adrenalin pumping ride each and every run and unrivaled replayability.

Dead Cells left Early Access on August 7th 2018 and comes with:

  • 13 Levels – Each one with its own atmosphere, foes and secrets to discover.
  • 4 Bosses – Made by the most sadistic of the devs, raised on the salt of the testers.
  • 90 or so weapons and skills – Spears, swords, bows, freeze blast, etc.
  • 4 special powers, unlocking new areas and paths (metroidvania gear lock items).
  • 1 epic responsive, fluid and fun to play combat system.
  • 1 Daily Run Mode Complete with leaderboards for lording it over your mates.
  • Hours of fun (depending on your skill, anything from 10 to 30 hours or more).
  • A few rage-quits, Ok a lot of rage quits… But you’ll git gud… Eventually.
